19030227 27th February 1903 Select Vestry meeting

A meeting of Select Vestry was held on 27 February 1903 when there were present The Very Revd. The Dean of Dromore, in the Chair; the Revd. Edward Jennings, James Albin, John Lavery, Wilson Irwin, James Collins, John Montgomery, J.G. Gracey, Thomas Stothers, Thomas Martin, Joseph Monro and Mr R Atkinson.

Owing to the increased average attendance at Seagoe Day school having largely increased, it is now qualified to have an assistant male teacher and Mr Lisk has been acting in that capacity for some time, but inasmuch as he will not be entitled to draw salary until the Board of Education have been satisfied that the necessary average attendances have been maintained for a full year and having applied for some advance to carry him on, the following resolution was proposed by Mr Thomas Martin and seconded by Mr James Albin – that Messrs. Atkinson and Stothers be authorised to sign Bills together with Mr Lisk, in order to make the Assistant Teacher payments amounting to £15 in all, till he comes under the pay of the Board – passed unanimously.

The Dean, having informed the meeting that the Parochial Endowment Fund was now almost equal to paying an additional £100 a year to the Rector and that he proposed to pay in the deficiency of £8 himself – it was proposed by Mr Stothers, seconded by MR Wilson Irwin and unanimously passed, that the Select Vestry lauder their best thanks to the Dean for his liberality in making above payment and also for his offer to pay the balance necessary, £40, to complete the Second Curate’s yearly salary. Same to be entered on the minutes.
